Personal items that contain parts of animals or protected species:

  • Animals: Mother of pearl, caviar, jewelry leather, furs, blood, taxidermy specimens, ivory objects.
  • Plants: Furniture, musical instruments, essences, medicines.

Before filing your import permit application, you must email the export permit, and/or any other relevant documents, from the country of export of the object you wish to import to email: import@npa.org.il

After the documents are received and approved in principle by the permits department, you may continue the process of filing your application, as detailed below:

Application process:

  1. You must first obtain holding permit through the permits portal, except for products listed in the General holding permit, for them no possession permit is required.
  2. Along with obtaining the holding permit, you must email a typed application to import@npa.org.il. Attached is the import permit application form. When filling out the form, make sure you note the full scientific name.
  3. Assessment and issuing of the permit will take up to 30 days.
  4. Import permits require payment of a fee. After your permit application is approved, you will receive an email with the amount of the fee and details of payment procedure. Products made only from plants do not require payment of a fee.
  5. The import permit is valid for six months.
  6. Receipt of a permit from the Israel Nature and Parks Authority does not exempt the applicant from obtaining any other permit or license required by law.
  7. Forty-eight hours before the shipment arrives, you must inform the INPA’s representative by email or text of the flight details of the shipment. Contact information appears on the permit.
  8. After the shipment arrives or the permit expires you must report to the permits department on the quantities that were actually imported (and also report non-use of the permit).
