Mosaic – Family Ceremonies at the Mountain of Blessing
Come celebrate your exciting moments at Mountain of Blessing – the ancient archaeological site on Mount Gerizim
The Mount Gerizim Site
The Mountain of Blessing, located at the summit of Mount Gerizim, is the largest and most impressive antiquities site in Judea and Samaria. The site combines spectacular panoramic views from 881 m above sea level, especially toward the city of Shechem. It was to Shechem that Abraham came to build an altar, in Shechem Jacob bought a “parcel of ground,” Joseph departed from Shechem to seek his brothers and in Shechem the Israelites buried his bones. At this site, where your family will hold their celebration, is where the blessing and the curse were uttered – the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal, and from here the tribes went out to conquer the land and settle it.
On a tour of the Mount Gerizim site visitors discover the Samaritan story and the complex and fascinating historical and intercommunal traditions of Jews, Samaritans, Christians and Muslims. The tour ends with a new film at the site that brings together the entire story.
Celebration is held at: the archaeological site (summer) or the visitors center (winter).
