Bet She’arim National Park

The importance of Bet She’arim stems from the fact that it was the home and burial place of Rabbi Yehuda HaNasi – the religious, spiritual and political leader of the Jewish people at the time, and redactor of the Mishnah (the Oral Law).

Ceremonies take place near and inside the hewn caves.
